What do a cop and a crime boss have in common?

They both need the Huntress to find a missing child.

In Viper Moon, Cassandra Archer is the Huntress, servant of the Earth Mother, finder of lost children. But this time there is more than the lives of two missing children at stake. Detective Flynn is looking for his missing sister and he turns to the Huntress as a last resort. He doesn’t believe in the powers of the Earth witch, Abby, who sent him to Cass and he has little faith in her as the Huntress. He is even less thrilled when he learns that she associates with all sort of unsavory folks, like the crime lord who is seeking his missing son. Cass doesn’t care about any of that. She is only concerned about the children and nothing will stop her from finding them—not even the growing evil in the desolate ruins known as The Barrows.

Viper Moon is the first in Lee Roland’s Earth Witches series and it is the best Urban Fantasy Romance I’ve read in years. This story is an action packed thrill ride and touching romance rolled into one. It’s set in a richly, vivid world and peopled by characters that will stick with you long after you finish the book. Roland is a talented storyteller. Every metaphor, every page, every scene is stuffed full of color and meaning and carefully crafted detail. She drags you into the sewers, tosses you into the river, drags you back from the brink of death, and leaves you begging for more.

What I loved about the heroine: Cass meets all the kick-ass heroine requirements of the Urban Fantasy genre and more. She is in your face, honest, and wickedly funny. She is also kind, surprisingly so.

What I loved about the hero: Flynn is like the big wolf that stands beside the warrior. Trusted and loyal, he’ll stand by her side or at her back in a fight and brush warm, soft fur up against her when she need’s comfort.

Other cools stuff: Horus the cat, and Nirah and Nefertiti the snakes are Cass’s roommates and they are more than just animals, they are something more and they will steal your heart as surely as Cass and Flynn.

  1. Nice review. I’m curious though, is this something that would appeal to a male audience? Or is the romance aspect of it a major part of the story?

    • I definitely think this will appeal to male Urban Fantasy readers. Lots of action. Lots of grit. Lots of great characters. Plot driven storyline.

      • It sounds like it has everything a good novel should. I haven’t come across many likeable, strong female protagonists so it’d be nice to read something to challenge that. Thanks for responding!
