Charlee: Welcome to the Smart Girls blog and thanks for agreeing to be interviewed! Let’s start with your new urban fantasy/paranormal romance series, the Skye Morrison Vampire Series. What is the premise of the series?

JL: Thank you for having me, Charlee! I’m excited to be here.

My series follows 23 year old Skye Morrison as she deals with adulthood after graduating from college in Austin, Texas. Her student loans are due and she’s in significant debt so she leaves her job at Drop Kick Dan’s bar and takes an Executive Assistant position at Austin’s newest and hottest gothic/industrial night club. Little does she know, her gorgeous new boss and his equally gorgeous brother are hiding a secret. Skye is faced with challenges almost immediately as a dead body is discovered in the VIP section opening night. The series follows Skye’s journey into a world she never knew existed and the unexpected love she finds.

      

Charlee: What do you enjoy most about writing Vampires?

JL: Vampires have always been a favorite of mine. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with The Lost Boys. One look at Kiefer Sutherland wearing his leather jacket and riding that motorcycle and I was hooked. I watched every vamp movie and read every book I could get my hands on, so writing about them felt like a natural choice for me. I think what I like best are the endless possibilities of their world. There is something dangerous and exciting about the vampire lifestyle. Throw in hot guys, love triangles, a little conflict, and a generous scoop of ‘loving’ and it’s perfect.

Charlee: If you met Skye Morrison on the corner, what would you say to her?

JL: Freakin’ awesome outfit! 😉

Charlee: Will this series continue? If so, how many books are planned? If no, what are you working on next?

JL: There are no set number of books for the Skye Morrison Vampire Series at this time. I’m going to tell the story as long as there is one in my head to tell. There will at least be 7 books, though. Right now I’m working in book 5 (still untitled) and a Contemporary Romance novel. Book 5 gets most of my attention. There is something about Skye’s world… Her story demands to be written and I happily give myself over to the muses.
