SGLSF: What attracts you to the romance genre, particularly SF/futuristic romance?
LIBBY SINCLAIR: The endless possibility. There are countless planets and stars out there, an infinitely open realm where anything can happen. Even today there is so much science cannot explain and new discoveries that bend the reality we know. So, why can’t there be intelligent alien life? And why can’t they find us or vice versa and there be love? Really, with SFR we are only limited by our imagination. What science deems fact could be wrong, we are just one discovery away.
SGLSF: How do you get inspirations for your characters?
LIBBY SINCLAIR: I get inspiration from all over. Books, movies, TV, day dreams, songs, pictures or artwork. I take a basic idea for a character and then ask myself questions. Who are they? What do they do? What motivates them? What went wrong in their past that made them this way? Then I think about how I can throw a wrench in their plans. No story without conflict right? So, how can I make my character rise to a challenge?
SGLSF: Do you remember the first book you read as a child?
LIBBY SINCLAIR: I didn’t start reading as a hobby until later in life. One of my favorites is Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee. Not an SFR but a beautiful love story about self-discovery and self-acceptance.
SGLSF: What is your ideal writing environment?
LIBBY SINCLAIR: I need my playlist, computer, and no distraction. I really need a bubble to hide in to get ‘in the zone’. It’s hard to get there with a family and job but not impossible.

SGLSF: Please tell us a bit about your most recent project.
LIBBY SINCLAIR: Deadlocked was meant to be a short story but I kept pushing the characters until I ended up with a novella. Brie is a kick ass bounty hunter who finds herself out of a job due to bureaucratic BS. She’s got to get her reputation back and sets her sights on a long lost ship rumored to be the holy grail of salvagers. The only problem is Finn, her rival and secret crush, is racing toward the prize. Read about their adventures in Deadlocked and watch for more in the Xerlian War Series.
SGLSF: Would you rather travel the far reaches of space or travel through time? Why?
LIBBY SINCLAIR: Can I just have a TARDIS? Seriously, this is a hard question. I’d say… Travel the reaches of space. I want to see what’s out there beyond Earth and our system. I want to see how life evolved on other planets and what they look like. Are they bipeds like us? More like spiders? Have tentacles?
SGLSF: If you discovered someone close to you was a vampire, what would you do? T
LIBBY SINCLAIR: hey would get berated with questions! How old are they, how often do they need to feed, is the sunlight thing true, when were they turned? Obviously they don’t mean me harm b/c it takes time to get close to me and I survived that long. So much to ask!

Great interview. You’re quite fearless with respect to vampires. Lol.
