Review: Cloaked in Fur by T.F. Walsh

cloakedBlurb:

This is a paranormal murder, mystery which I found very refreshing.  Daci is about to come into her full werewolf powers.  She’s hunting for an elixer that will stop the process so she can be with her human lover, Connell.  Daci’s life is interrupted when a monster of a wolf (a dracwulf) starts murdering her friends and she becomes a suspect.

About the Author:

T.F. Walsh emigrated from Romania to Australia at the age of eight and now lives in a regional city south of Sydney with her husband. Growing up hearing dark fairytales, she’s always had a passion for reading and writing horror, paranormal romance, urban fantasy and young adult stories. She balances all the dark with light fluffy stuff like baking and traveling.

My review:

What I enjoyed the most about Cloaked in Fur is the constant reference to the pack life.  You really get a glimpse of what the alpha is like and the chain of command.  Daci, the main character, is called a moonwulf as she has not fully come into her powers.  Once a moonwulf has obtained their full powers they are called wulfkin.   The story takes place  in the Carpathian mountains, which is a pretty cool setting.

In Cloaked in Fur you get to see several layers of Daci.  She’s tough because she has to be for the pack, she’s vulnerable because she’s in love with a human that has no clue about her werewolf status, she’s under suspicions from the law due to the terrible murders occurring around her, and she’s unable to trust anyone because of her werewolf secrets and has no idea who is murdering her friends.   I always love a tough female character and Daci kicks ass.  But I do love the vulnerable side, it makes her much more relatable just knowing that all chicks – even werechicks – cry over men. We don’t want to but unfortunately we do at some point. And if you throw in Daci’s ex into the mixture things get even more tense and interesting.

I highly recommend Cloaked in Fur if you love paranormal romance involving were’s.  There’s a bit of spice, romance, lots of action, mystery and a bit of gore.
