Posting for Echo Ishii (RK)
E. What were some of your favorite books growing up?
S. I loved the Deverry series by Katherine Kerr as a teen and before that The Chronicles of Narnia. Escaping into another world was why I read (and why I still read—I love the adventure of new places)
E. What attracts you to the romance genre, particularly SF/futuristic romance?
S. I like the romance genre because there is a happily ever after. There is enough misery in the world without having to read about it too. That’s not to say I don’t like dark romance, because I do, and I love writing it and putting my characters through hell, but I know they will survive. I particularly like SFF because of the world building (from a read and author perspective). I have as much fun creating as I do exploring someone else’s world. With SF there is a whole universe to explore, so many different aliens and alien cultures. Sometimes it’s nice to leave humans behind.
E. Are you more plot driven or character driven?
S. That is a tricky one. Characters create the plot by their choices. When I start writing I need to know a bit about my characters and I also need to know the main turning points of the story, and I work both of those things up together. There is no real distinction for me from a plotting perspective.
E. What is your ideal writing environment?
S. That depends on the day. Some days I need quite, other times I work better with background noise.
E. Please tell us a bit about your most recent project.
S. My new release, Desire to Fall, is an erotic science fiction romance set on a planet where ménages are the norm. The women have wings and the men don’t so I had to think about what a city would look like and how it would function…and also what their crimes would be (because no society is perfect). The romance happens against a setting of civil unrest caused by a major engineering project. It is one of the biggest worlds I have ever built. I have two more books planned in the series (I am in the process of cleaning up book 2 at the moment).
E. If you discovered someone close to you was an alien, what would you do?
S. I would want to know about the world they came from. How was it different? What is the culture like? Is it peaceful or violent? If there are wars what are they about? I’d want to know everything!
E. If you could live in a fandom universe, which would you choose?
S. One where I didn’t killed! Supernatural is too dangerous. Grimm or Once Upon a Time would be fun.

Desire to Fall – OUT TODAY!
Kya Hawl is an architect on the Precinct One redevelopment, a prestigious and contentious project in the city-state of Velli. While she is happy with her part-time female lover, Judge Elmi Chadee, she wants more. She wants a family and children, for that she needs two men willing to put their life on the line to breed.
Tref Xant and his partner Dru Macon seem like the right guys; however, Tref has secrets and Dru is about to deploy to Precinct One, one of the roughest precincts in Velli. The redevelopment can’t come soon enough. Tref would like to see the place burned to the ground. But even that wouldn’t be able to erase his memories of growing up there.
With Dru away Tref finds himself falling for Kya. Jealousy sparks between the men. A triad can never form as Dru wants Elmi and she has sworn off unions after her sister ran away to join the Terrin Sect.
As riots erupt and the redevelopment is threatened Dru realizes he has to fight for what he wants–something Tref learned long time ago. A four-way union–while unusual–would work. But will the women agree when they learn of Tref’s past?
