I usually find TV shows pretty predictable—even the ones I like—but Falling Skies keeps turning in directions I’m not expecting. The most recent episode brought back a character I wasn’t expecting to see return. Even after she appeared, I wasn’t sure what direction the story was going, right up until I was supposed to know. I think it one of the pitfalls of studying story, you see the foundations being laid and you can predict the direction of the story—not so with falling skies. At least, not for me. What’s even better, is that these twists explain details of earlier episodes that made no sense to me at the time. I’m really loving it.
