PIPPA

A stay-at-home mum of three who spent twelve years working as an Analytical Chemist in a Metals and Minerals laboratory, Pippa Jay bases her stories on a lifetime addiction to science-fiction books and films. Somewhere along the line a touch of romance crept into her work and refused to leave. In between torturing her various characters, she spends the odd free moments indulging in freestyle street dance and studying the Dark Side of the Force. Although happily settled in historical Colchester in the UK with her husband of 22 years and three little monsters, she continues to roam the rest of the Universe in her head.

Mini Interview

Q. When did you realize SFR was a genre?

A. When I first met Laurie A Green, creator of the Science Fiction Romance Brigade in 2010. Until that point I thought I’d just written scifi that happened to have a romance in it too.

Q. What SFR book had the most impact on your reading and/or writing?

A. Ugh, it’s very hard to pin it down to a single book, but probably The Crystal Singer by Anne McCaffrey. It’s always been my favourite SFR (yes, even over her dragon books), and her books had a very big influence over my writing.

Q. Do your books lean more SF or Romance?

A. Mine tend to range between the two extremes, but probably a smidge more toward the SF than the R. I started off writing science fiction, so that’s more where my interest and preference lies.

What Pippa would like to ask readers:

Have you read my books yet? But my typically British reserve prevents me from actually saying that. 😛

Answer for an entry in our giveaway.

PS no penalty for answering no!

  1. LOL! Oh, British reserve be hanged! Ask what you will. To answer your non-question…no, I haven’t read any of your books…yet. But, Riley (of this site) mentioned yesterday that she rarely re-reads books but one of her favorites was being re-issued so she “re-read so she could re-view”. If a non re-reader re-reads (say that three times fast) a story, that is like catnip to me. Into the wishlist it goes. Besides, blue is one of my favorite colors. 😉

  2. No, I haven’t read your books yet. But now I am definitely tempted. Any chance you will take your books into the realm of audiobooks?

    • Thank you! Well, having them turned into audio books is unfortunately out of my budget at the moment, but who knows. It’s something I’d love to do at some point.

  3. I haven’t yet but that one sounds good. I am adding to my goodreads shelf. not saying i’ll get to it anytime soon what with a full time job. and running a household and reading for fun and reviews it hard to find time sometimes. I hope to get through my tbr pile sometime after I retire.

    • Oh, I know the feeling – I’m trying to make some inroads into my TBR pile while I take a break from writing for a few weeks. So many books, so little time. 🙂 Thank you!

  4. Sadly, not yet – which isn’t a no! Just a not yet. I have actually just discovered you here, but now that I have found you . . . I look forward to reading this and other books by you. Thank you.
