Chase Noble is a former special ops agent and a descendant of Fae. He’s been patiently waiting for his purpose in life when he’s suddenly sent back in time to medieval Scotland. He’s now on a mission to save a beautiful woman, Christiana MacDowylt. Christiana possesses the gift of foresight and is a prisoner of her evil half brother.
This was an intricate story filled with Norse mythology, magic, and plaids – oh my!! WARRIOR REBORN is book #2 in the series. I have not read book #1, Warriors Redemption, or book #1.5 Warriors Last Gift, but they are on my TBR list now! I also thought this was a fascinating story of time travel from present day to medieval Scottish highlander times.
The heroine, Christiana, and her journeys to visit the Skuld’s world were very intriguing. I hated how her evil half brother, Torquil, used and abused her but it was an intricate part of the story. He envied her visions and bullied her into doing his biding. But Christiana is brilliant and uses this to her advantage. In a brutal time where women were considered to be weak and to be used and abused by a man in every way possible was encouraged, the fact that Christiana is surviving in this era at all is inspiring.
I was connected to Chase, the hero, instantly as he has been waiting all his life for something to happen, something big and it finally does. I think we all have that expectation or moment in life. I loved how he treated Christiana and how no matter how dire the circumstances were he would do what is right and that he also was not afraid to show his love.
I’m not going to say much about the evil Torquil as I don’t want to spoil anything but to say he’s intense and downright scary is a putting it nicely.
The most interesting character for me was Halldor. Just the name gives me shivers, so masculine, so Nordic, so very hot!! Every inch of Halldor exudes trust, honor, intelligence and pure warrior. He befriends Chase and takes him under his wing. There’s no way Chase would have survived this trip back in time without the help of Halldor.
I’m ecstatic to say that Halldor is the hunky plaid wearing hero in book #3, Warrior Untamed, which is due for release November 26, 2013.
Melissa Mayhue lives in Colorado, in the shadow of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, with her family, two insanely spoiled dogs, one domineering cat, a turtle with an attitude, and way too many fish in their aquarium. If any one thing is obvious about the books I like best, it’s that I love my Happy Ever After endings!!
My Smart Girl’s book rating is 4 stars out of 5.
