A couple of years ago I got hooked on podcasts. It started with listening to missed episodes of favorite radio shows and progressed to genre newscasts and specialty topic podcasts. In all that time I’ve been looking for good audio fiction and I’ve finally found it! I was suffering from withdraws from The Walking Dead and stumbled on We’re Alive.
I mainlined the first season over a weekend, but the episodes run 15 – 20 minutes and would be perfect for commutes. The voice acting and production quality are excellent and the story line was a balm to my zombie-survival-story starved soul. The story starts with three soldiers who decide to hold and defend an apartment tower building, keeping the survivors they find safe and picking-up more along the way. There are zombie attacks, battles with our survivor groups, internal struggles, love blossoming, friendships forged in hellfire, and a trip into the heart of the zombie strong hold.
We’re Alive is available for direct download from their website or subscribe via itunes or feed burner.
If you check it out, be sure to let me know what you thought and if you recommend other audio fiction I’d love to hear about that too.
