Amazon’s Top Ten Romances for 2011

I was poking around Amazon and came across their top picks of 2011. Their top ten list of romance books includes three Paranormal Romances and One Steampunk Romance.

According to Amazon, this isn’t based on sales, but editorial judgement:
“We scour reviews and book news for tips on what the earliest readers have loved, trade books amongst ourselves, and fan out to tear through as many of the best books as possible. Then we face off in a monthly Best Books Smackdown meeting to champion the books we think will resonate most with their readership.”

Here are the four that made it into their picks:

Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter)

by Nalini Singh

Dragon Bound (A Novel of the Elder Races)
by Thea Harrison

Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Immortals After Dark Series, Book 9)
by Kresley Cole

Heart of Steel (A Novel of the Iron Seas)
by Meljean Brook

I haven’t read any of them, though I had at least heard of them.  I love Nalini Singh’s Psy-Chanling series so I know I will read her Guild Hunters eventually, but I haven’t purchased it yet.

Have you read any of these? If so, what did you think of them?

  1. I have read the first two books in Singh’s Guildhunter series. It’s pretty good, but I can leave the sex scenes. I shamelessly plan to continue the series because the covers are awesome and she’s from New Zealand, which means that if she can’t be a fellow Aussie, then Kiwi is the next best thing. 🙂

I’ve read The Iron Duke (first in the Iron Seas books, I think), and it was ok, but I don’t remember much about the story itself, other than there was a female detective from Scotland yard as the heroine.

I am, however, on a bit of a slide away from paranormal romance right now, so take my opinions with a grain of salt!

I’ve not read the other two, and have no plans to do so, quite frankly. I have enough series to be keeping up with. (Just when I think I’ve caught up with my reading pile…)

    • Hi Gillian,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. If you’re headed away from Paranormal, are you reading more of something else? Very curious! And what series are you sticking with and why?
